Chimney Cleaning

Your Safety Is My Concern
The National Fire Protection Agency recommends having your chimney inspected once per year, and with good reason, each year thousands of home fires are the result from improperly installed or maintained wood and gas burning systems. For 28 years Soot & Cinders has been one of the most dependable, professional, and trusted chimney sweep companies in Utah. We are a full service company offering the following services:
Chimney Cleaning & Inspections
We use state of the art equipment to thoroughly clean your system of creosote, the flammable byproduct of combustion. As we clean we also give your system a thorough safety inspection, making sure it is in good working order. If necessary, we run a video camera up the flue to make sure it is in good condition. An improperly installed stove that does not have enough clearance to combustibles can be a fire hazard. For this reason, we always inspect the system to make sure that it meets NFPA 211 fire code. When we are done, we go over each part of the system with you, and take time to answer any questions that you may have. We can address any issues that you may be having such as a poor draft or excessive creosote accumulation.

Repairs and Installations
We do all repairs from smaller jobs, such as replacing black pipe, or replacing a stove gasket, to larger jobs, such as a full chimney reline with insulated stainless steel pipe. We also do stove installations with stoves that are both new and used. We are happy to provide free quotes on all of our repairs and installations.
Chimney Cap Installation
Raccoons, birds, and bats all invade chimneys. Raccoons have been a particular problem, as the females like to have their babies on the smokeshelf of a fireplace every year around the month of April. A professional chimney cap can keep these unwanted invaders out. We sell caps in all sizes and metals: black powder coated, stainless steel and copper. We can also custom make any size or style that you can envision.

Chase caps
May of today's homes are built with aluminum siding instead of the traditional masonry. At the top of each home with a chimney with aluminum siding is a chase cap. These metal chase caps rust over time and need to be replaced. We make custom chase caps to fit all sizes of chimneys. We can produce them in 30 different colors. We can also custom make the hoods that go on top of the chase caps, enhancing the beauty of the chimney and increasing the home's value.
Waterproofing
Water damages masonry over time. All new and existing masonry chimneys are susceptible to water damage, and even if repaired, will continue to deteriorate if not protected. Crumbling mortar, spalling bricks, and crumbling concrete are all signs of water damage. We seal chimneys with professional grade ChimneySaver brand products. These products protect better, and last longer than anything else on the market.
